We’ve got just two new theatrical releases from the Warner Archive this week. There are several TV releases, including the Ed Grimley animated series, but we just cover the movie releases here. Still, I’m pretty excited about the films being released this week because one of the releases is a five film set that I have been anticipating for some time.
First up is a Howard Hawks flying ace adventure…
- The Dawn Patrol (1930)
Then there is the set I have been looking forward to. Last summer, while driving from Denver to Columbus, Ohio and back, I spent a lot of time listening to the old time radio station. I really enjoyed listening to several episodes of The Great Gidersleeve starring Harold Peary. I later found out that RKO produced several Gildersleeve films, and now The Warner Archive brings them to DVD!
- The Great Gildersleeve Movie Collection
Includes:
- The Great Gildersleeve (1942)
- Gildersleeve’s Bad Day (1943)
- Gildersleeve on Broadway (1943)
- Gildersleeve’s Ghost (1944)
- Seven Days Leave (1942)

There are Great Gildersleeve movies? GET OUT!
If there was a way of responding with the famous Gildersleeve laugh here, I would.
