“Lonliness of a Long Distance Runner” is a great movie. It stars Tom Courtenay who just recently starred in the Dustin Hoffman film “Quartet”. It is about an English youth who prepares for a big marathon race in an attempt to escape his ugly home life, but what he does at the very end is quite unexpected and something you would probably never see in an American film. Nice to see that it is finally being released onto DVD.
Warren William is fab as a ruthless, greedy, pre-code villain. “Skyscaper Souls” is actually more timely today than when it was made, in my opinion.
Also, I have a soft spot for “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” – nice to see that released.
I’ve never seen the original Eddie’s Father movie, but seen many episodes of the TV series as a kid.
